WHO Chief urges governments to unite against tobacco firms

Dr Margaret CHAN, Director-General of World Health Organization gave a keynote address at the Opening Ceremony of World Conference on Tobacco or Health to express that this conference will damage the health of the tobacco industry.

 

Opening Ceremony of HKU's Youth Quitline Centre

The Smoking Cessation Research Team of School of Nursing, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has been granted by the Tobacco Control Office, Department of Health to provide youth cessation hotline for youngsters aged 25 or below.


Cigarette smoking may link to memory loss 

Cigarette smoking is not only hazardous to health, but also affects memory. A recent study in United Kingdom found that the memory loss among social smokers was similar to the level of daily smokers.

Awards Presentation Ceremony of Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards  

 

Awards Presentation Ceremony of the Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards has been held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 14 March. After a series of assessment, observational visits and judging process, the Judging Panel had concluded 15 companies to receive the Grand Awards, another 15 companies received the Certificates of Merit with Special Recognition and 181 companies received the Certificates of Merit.

 

 

Awards Presentation Ceremony of Smoke-free Teens  

 

Many primary school students and junior forms of secondary school students became Smoke-free Soldiers to encourage and support their family members, relatives and friends to quit smoking. Besides 50 kindergarten children and 50 students from primary and junior secondary schools, 10 outstanding sharing from family members also attended the Awards Presentation Ceremony and received recognition on 25 February.
