Smoke-free Construction Force

Smoke-free Construction ForceAccording to the Survey on the Occupational Safety and Health of Construction Workers, around 45 percent of construction workers smoke regularly and a quarter of them smoke at work. The survey also found that the injury rate of smokers was 1.39 times higher than that of non-smokers. Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health organizes a tailored programme “Smoke-free Construction Force” with full support of Construction Industry Council, Hong Kong Construction Association, Hong Kong Construction Industry Employees General Union and Hong Kong General Building Contractors Association to spread smoke-free messages among the construction industry.

All construction organizations, companies and sites are welcomed to join the Force and will be awarded a certificate. Outstanding participants will be commemorated for their efforts at the Awards Presentation Ceremony of “Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards 2016” in February 2017.
