The 8th Cross-strait Conference on Tobacco Control


To provide a platform to share experiences and facilitate development on tobacco control issues in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, Chinese Association on Tobacco Control, COSH, John Tung Foundation, Macau’s Smoking Abstention Smoke-free & Healthy Life Association of Macau and the Macao Association of Medicals Volunteers conduct regular Cross-Strait Conference on Tobacco Control. The 8th Cross-strait Conference on Tobacco Control was co-hosted by the Smoke-free & Healthy Life Association of Macau, Macau’s Smoking Abstention and Good Health Association and The Macao Association of Medicals Volunteers. The Conference received over 200 delegates and tobacco control experts.

Contribution Awards for Chinese on Tobacco Control

Mr Antonio KWONG, COSH Chairman was awarded with the Contribution Awards for Chinese on Tobacco Control for his contribution in promoting tobacco control in Hong Kong.



Presentations from Hong Kong Representatives

Prof Sophia CHAN, Under Secretary for Food and Health shared the tobacco control policies in Hong Kong. Mr Antonio KWONG, COSH Chairman presented the advocacy of a total ban on electronic cigarettes in Hong Kong.
   
Dr Jeff LEE, Head of Tobacco Control Office of the Department of Health shared the experience of tobacco control and enforcement in Hong Kong. Prof LAM Tai-hing, Chair Professor of Community Medicine & Sir Robert Kotewall Professor in Public Health, School of Public Health, The University of Hong Kong introduced the research on smoking kills up to two in every three smokers.
   
Ms Vienna LAI, COSH Executive Director shared the experience of the Elderly Smoking Cessation Promotion Project which encouraged smoking cessation among elderly in the community.
